Grant #303

Codebuddies

July 16, 2018

Would you rather 1) Work on coding skills alone in your room or 2) Meet IRL or online to collaborate and learn together? CodeBuddies is an international community of over 4000 independent coders who prefer #2.

Built by volunteers, the Code Buddies platform is free and open-source, making it easy for peer-to-peer organized study groups and remote study hangouts (yes, there’s a Slack community too). Now anyone can set up a hangout, no matter where they live or whether they can get to a tech meetup in person. Let’s face it: some of us just work better when we work with others, when there’s a supportive community that has our backs, where we we’re not afraid to say what we don’t know, and where asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness. (And some CodeBuddies never leave the house! Which is fine!)

Our grant will help with the costs of sending email and web hosting, along with a few goodies to say thanks to the volunteers who’ve spent hundreds of hours building it so YOU can come. We love CodeBuddies for their commitment to transparency. Here, this link will show you how they spend their money!
