Wondering what to do with that perfectly good bra you don’t wear any more? Donate it!
Oh, that’s such a beautiful bra. Too bad it doesn’t fit any more. What are you going to do with it? Here’s an idea: visit I Support the Girls, and they’ll let you know where to send or drop off that bra (or that drawer full of bras). Then they’ll make sure that your gift finds its way to a homeless woman or girl.
Along with all the other indignities of being homeless, it’s tough to buy underwear that fits and looks decent. And it’s not just the bra – sometimes women and girls have to choose between buying menstrual products and buying food.
That’s why I Support The Girls was born. When Dana Marlowe found herself with a wardrobe of intimate wear that no longer fit, she discovered that thousands of women and girls would be thrilled to receive her gently-worn garments. Her idea grew to include providing period products as well as bras – the biggest need is for maxi-pads with wings – and there are now over 50 local chapters around the world.
If you are not a wearer of bras, you can still help bring dignity to homeless women and girls by making a financial contribution. A bra – a bra that fits. Tampons and pads. The basics of being female. Nobody should have to go without them. Time should really be up for that.
