Grant #48

Solo No Puedo

January 13, 2014

Now playing: the impossible dream of a retired doctor brought to life, live in Peru!

78-year-old retired cardiologist, Dr. Luis Vasquez, had a dream: build a state of the art, volunteer-run hospital in the middle of a Peruvian jungle.

His desire to bring universal healthcare to Yantaló — his mother’s hometown — has not only resulted in an internationally run and sustainably designed scientific campus, but a haven for patients as far away as Lima.

Sounds like an undertaking worth documenting, right?! Director and producer, Angela Snow and cinematographer, Josh Gibson thought so, and spent seven years capturing the story. Under the tutelage of the duo’s company To the Moon Productions, the film Solo No Puedo: I Cannot Alone was born.

Learn more about the film and corresponding social impact campaign, where you can find resources for volunteering, donating, and taking action on behalf of Dr. Vasquez’s hospital and similar opportunities around the world.
