If We Tell You About The Secret City Is It Still Secret?
Nah, it’s not a secret. In fact The Secret City is an Obie-Award winning performance group, about to be completely public in Woodstock (yes, that Woodstock).
If you know that Woodstock then you know why the theme of The Secret City Art Revival is “Back to the Garden,” inspired by the 50th anniversary of the iconic music festival. But this one? You can bring the kids. From Thursday, July 25-Sunday July 28 2019, the place will be alive with storytelling, art (including lessons for the young ones), food, music, meditation, singing, performance and community interaction in an event that is part tent revival, part ceremony, part salon.
It’s free! (But it would be appreciated if you would give the suggested donation.)
Those donations, and this Awesome Without Borders grant, pay for the basics of putting on a show like this. They’ve got to rent the performance tent, chairs, sound system, lighting, and space at the community center.
We love how The Secret City tries to reflect the environmental beauty of the greater Woodstock community, while using the arts, performance and ritual to entertain and inspire.
Bringing people together in greater acceptance of themselves and one another? We think that’s awesome indeed. Check it out here, and follow along with them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
(If you go to Woodstock for the Art Revival, look for events happening all over town – The Secret City has lots of local partners for site-specific art installations and public performances the weekend of the Art Revival.)
