Grant #251

Healing Experience Camps

July 7, 2017

Therapeutic Experience Camps — a magical space where children can heal and thrive.

A therapeutic camp experience can change the life of a grieving child, allowing them to open up and feel connected to others who understand exactly what has gone down. So, you can understand why we’re having all the feels for Experience Camps.

These free, one-week getaways are specially designed for children who have lost a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. The magical, healing camps allow kids to laugh, cry, play, create, and remember their loved one.

Created by Sara Deren, Experience Camps are currently held in Maine, New York, California, and Georgia, serving a total of 500 campers each summer.

The Awesome Without Borders Grant will go towards continuing to provide campers with camp supplies and therapeutic grief activities. Prepare to be moved by following Experience Camps on Facebook and Twitter.
