Helping educators get smart on trauma and the millions it affects.
Nearly 35 million children in the U.S. are living with psychological and emotional trauma caused by any number of adverse experiences including abuse, neglect, and familial instability. Many of these children are of school age elevating the importance of better equipping the adults in the school community to recognize and respond to those who have been impacted by traumatic stress. Enter Trauma Camp.
There isn’t a campfire or swimming pool at this camp. Instead, there is an online suite of tools to empower educators to understand what trauma is and its effects so that they can create safe environments that help all young people thrive despite any traumas they’ve endured.
And it’s not your average training program: They are unpacking the brain and body’s relationship to trauma. Yes, things get a bit cerebral (literally), but Awesome Without Borders is helping them make all the content more user-friendly (hello animated brain)! And, well, it’s going to be awesome.
