Grant #246

Golazo!

May 30, 2017

This camp has two universal languages — Spanish and soccer — but one price: free.

For those of you who are new to the sport of soccer, “golazo!” is the expression for an awesomely amazing goal — and (an awesomely amazing) soccer program for low-income Latino youth in Williamson County, Tennessee!

Founded by high school sophomore Nash Crook and his four friends, the rewarding endeavor has helped bridge communities through the love of soccer, the joy of learning, and the common bond of being kids. Underserved young people tap into the camp’s extensive soccer training offering, and the counselors improve their knowledge of various Latino cultures and Spanish language. It’s a win-win, and everybody has a ball (literally and figuratively)!

This Awesome Without Borders grant will go towards continuing to provide campers with soccer cleats, socks, shinguards, t-shirts, water, and snacks at no additional cost. Stay up to speed with the program by following Golazo! on facebook.
