Grant #256

Hard Tellin’

August 7, 2017

Proof that women are crushing it on land and sea.

Who gets the cred for providing you with those Instagram-worthy oysters? Fishermen! Wait, what? How about the fierce women of the sea? No, not mermaids. We’re talking female boat captains, badbass (couldn’t help ourselves) fisherwomen, and the bosses spearheading conservation efforts.

The Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association wants to tell you the stories of those women through a video series called “Hard Tellin’.”

In the fishing industry, if someone answers your question by saying, “Hard tellin’,” that’s their way of saying, “I’m not sure.” So, what’s the future of the fishing industry? Hard tellin’.

Nobody knows how long people can continue to fish, but we know that it’s important to recognize that women are some of those people. This AWB grant is dedicated to making sure they’re remembered.
