Grant #118

Say It In Color: Art for Suicide Survivors

December 1, 2014

We love this art with heart

Ever notice how we naturally show what we can’t say? Your Heart On Art isn’t your typical art program, and that’s good news for people the world over!

Finding the words to express how we feel can be very complicated. With colors, we can convey what tongues can’t say. Employing this alternate outlet for releasing repressed feelings, emotions and memories is the key to healing when all else seems to fail. With that in mind, YHOA’s workshops are drawn along strictly-guided exercises designed to elicit real emotional responses.

The art they produce is powerful, purging, and provides a path to a more peaceful reality. Participants create a series of works that bring their own unique stories to the surface. The results of this new way of communicating are not only awesome, they’re also effective! And with this AWB grant, free workshops will be offered for young children and adolescents currently dealing with undeserved stress, pain, and grief.

Check out the YHOA homepage, or connect on Facebook and Twitter to share some love.
