Grant #11

The Boat for Singing Together

April 29, 2013

A floating canopy where people can take a break from the frenzied pulse of the city and join in song? Yes, please!

The decision to fund The Boat for Singing Together was a unanimous one. It was nothing short of awesome. The Boat for Singing Together from A’yen Tran on Vimeo.

Sadly, shortly after we notified the project’s founder A’yen Tran that we wanted to offer her a grant, we learned the boat had been damaged during Hurricane Sandy. To continue providing free and direct access to boating and singing in Queens, support of the project was now critical. We are thrilled that Awesome Without Borders could fund this grantee, and encourage anyone who would like to help with the rebuild to visit their website. You can also find more information on their Facebook channel, here.

And once they are up and running make sure to stop by for their next sing alongâ you never know just who may show upâ
