Grant #6

Anouk Wipprecht’s ‘Fluid Fashion’ Workshop

March 25, 2013

All hail the queen of fashionable technology!

Anouk Wipprecht‘s thought leadership — from designing Fergie’s halftime costume at the 2011 Superbowl to masterminding notable international exhibits — is helping to mold this nascent field. So, when we learned she wanted to share her expertise with others, we knew she had to receive our sixth grant.

Technological couture, systems around the body that tend towards artificial intelligence, can move, breath, and react to the environment around them. Part futuristic, part anime-meets-high fashion, her aesthetics differ from more utilitarian wearables (which are all about function) and are considered artistic creations in and of themselves.

In her upcoming 2 day intensive workshop, Saturday April 6th & 7th at the Los Angeles Makerspace, Anouk will use the incredible RENESAS GR SAKURA board to teach participants a number of innovative techniques.

To learn more about Anouk’s work, visit http://www.anoukwipprecht.nl/ and find her on Twitter at @AnoukWipprecht. For those in the Los Angeles area, you can join her workshop here: http://fluidfashion.eventbrite.com/. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity! Her work is revolutionary!
